Me and Linus

Me… and Linus Torvalds at LinuxCon North America 2011

I’m the one on the left… My name’s Shaun. I’m an electrical engineering student at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. I’ve spent the last few years bouncing between classes and summer/winters at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station, Antarctica; another project of mine that gets the ‘why!?’s. Growing up I was amazed by Sam Barros’ PowerLabs website. His experiments and videos inspired me, and while I don’t think my website will have anywhere near the same effect, I hope someone gets a kick out of it. The realization that my graduation date is now sometime in 2015, I’ve set myself up with a project that will hopefully keep me from going back to Antarctica for a bit and grounded enough to finish my degree.

Why?

I have no idea, I can't really explain it... I'm using the guise of a 'learning project' but the best way I've found to describe it is by comparing it to a collector car. This is my '69 GT. It will absorb all my time, energy, and money. While its necessity is questioned by all around me, in the eyes of the few, I will have it all.
